Terms & Conditions
These Terms and Conditions govern the provision of all mechanical repairs, logbook servicing, wheel and tyre fitting, and vehicle inspections provided by Hoppers Auto Mechanics. By authorising us to commence work on your vehicle, you agree to the following terms.
1. Quotes and Estimates
Estimates: Any verbal or written estimate provided is an approximation of costs based on an initial visual inspection. It is not a fixed quote.
Additional Work: If, during our diagnostic process or servicing, we discover that additional parts or labour are required, we will halt work and contact you. No additional work will be undertaken without your explicit verbal or written authorisation.
Validity: Written quotes remain valid for 14 days from the date of issue, subject to parts availability and supplier price variations.
2. Payment Terms
Settlement: Full payment is strictly due upon completion of the service and prior to the collection of your vehicle, unless a prior account arrangement has been agreed upon.
Accepted Methods: We accept cash, EFTPOS, Visa, and MasterCard.
Worker’s Lien: Under Victorian law, Hoppers Auto Mechanics retains a worker’s lien over your vehicle. We reserve the right to retain possession of your vehicle until the invoice is paid in full.
3. Parts and Oils
We use high-quality OEM or equivalent parts and manufacturer-approved oils to ensure your vehicle’s statutory warranty remains protected.
We do not fit customer-supplied parts due to warranty and liability restrictions, unless explicitly agreed upon in writing by workshop management.
4. Warranties and Consumer Guarantees
Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).
For major failures with the service, you are entitled to cancel your service contract with us and to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value.
You are also entitled to choose a replacement or refund for a major failure with goods. If a failure with the goods or a service does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have the failure rectified in a reasonable time. If this is not done, you are entitled to a refund for the goods and to cancel the contract for the service.
In addition to your ACL rights, Hoppers Auto Mechanics provides a standard workshop warranty on all new parts and labour for a period of 6 months or 10,000 kilometres, whichever occurs first.
5. Vehicle Storage and Uncollected Vehicles
Vehicles must be collected within 48 hours of you being notified of the work’s completion.
If a vehicle remains uncollected after this period without prior arrangement, a storage fee of $30 per day may be applied.
Vehicles left for more than 30 days without communication or payment may be deemed uncollected goods and disposed of in accordance with the Australian Consumer Law and Fair Trading Act 2012 (Vic).
6. Liability and Vehicle Contents
While we take the utmost care of every vehicle in our possession, Hoppers Auto Mechanics is not liable for loss or damage to vehicles caused by events beyond our reasonable control (e.g., severe weather, fire, theft), except where such loss arises from our direct negligence.
Customers are responsible for removing all personal valuables from their vehicles prior to leaving them at the workshop. We accept no liability for missing personal items.
